Well I woke up at 4:30 and headed off to work. Work has been picking up since the project I’m working on is entering a new phase. The ship should arrive in Corpus Christi on May 6th and the team that I'm a part of is planning on going down there for a couple of weeks. It doesn’t look like I’ll start working down there until September. With that news I called and changed my reservation for Ransom Road RV Park. It looks like Gina & I will be down in Aransas Pass from September to February 2010 after which we're hoping to be head to Arizona. Only time will tell if this holds true but that is what we’re planning.
I called Gina early this morning but the poison ivy is getting the best of her, she said she was going to rest for a while this morning. She finally called me at 10:30 and said she was getting up and was calling the doctor for some medicine that may help heal her rash a little quicker. The doctor did call in some kind of cream to the pharmacy and she went and picked it up. He also gave her some good news. He informed her that her iron level is back normal. This was really great news since she has been anemic for the past six months. Well, I decided at 3 o’clock that I was not going to work tomorrow and instead decided to drive to our house in Louisiana tonight to see my bride. I left work and went home to pack up a few items and got on the road at 5:30 and arrived in Louisiana at 10 o’clock. Gina and I talked for a while and then we looked at some pictures she took of her flowers. I decided that tomorrow's entry will be all on Gina’s garden and how it has evolved to what it is today. So be sure to come back tomorrow and see some great pictures. So that’s about it for today.

Poison Ivy & Gina Don't Play Well Together

This was kind of normal day for me but anything but normal for Gina. She went and did some landscaping at my sister-in-law’s house on Tuesday and yesterday morning she woke up with blisters and a rash all over. She got a little too friendly with some poison ivy. Well let’s just say she was not a happy camper yesterday. She did go and buy some calamine lotion and was taking Benadryl. Hopefully it will heal fast. I didn’t do much, other than go to work.
Gina cooked breakfast for dinner for Thomas since that is his favorite meal and Gina does make some fantastic homemade biscuits. Anyway I had tacos. I flipped through the channels until American Idol came on. I must say that this year has been so different in that I believe all of these top five last night can sing very well. Anyway Matt got sent home which is who I thought would go.
Gina and I talked on the phone for a while then it was time for bed. Anyway, I’m counting down the days until I head back to Louisiana on Friday.

A Normal Day with A Lot of Rain

This was a very wet and loud night. I got woke up at 1 o’clock in the morning to hail hitting the camper. Let me tell you that it was loud. The hail didn’t last long and it was very small stuff and there was no damage. I finally made it back to sleep but got up at 4:30 for work. It stormed all night and was still pouring down this morning. The news reported that about 10 to 11 inches of rain fell today. When I got home yesterday the frogs were screaming outside. It was kind of interesting to sit down and listen to them. It seemed like they were having a party and by all rights they should since Houston has been low in their rainfall but after today they are in the plus category by at least 3 inches. I also heard that this has been the wettest April on Record for Houston. Now I’m ready for it to dry out.
Work was the same for me and Gina didn’t really do much today other than plant some more plants in her garden. Gina could and does for the most part spend all of her time in the garden. This is her special place and when she’s not there she misses it a lot. Like I said yesterday, this is how she relaxes. I did want want to share a picture she sent to me of her trumpet plant. She was so excited, you would have thought she just won a million dollars. It made her day so I thought would share it with you all.
However, she did go over to my sister-in-law’s house and help her with some landscaping for a few hours in the evening. On my way home from work I stopped by Kroger for some “minenayse” since I ran out this morning. I finally made it home at 6:30 and cooked some rice and white beans for supper and had some pineapple to go with it. I watched American Idol and Fringe after which I got onto the RV-Dreams chat room for an hour until Gina called. Nice conversation last night about rv’ers and guns. I wanted to provide this link to the story of a family on vacation that stopped over in a Wal-mart parking lot in Cedar City, Utah. RV’er shoots intruder Anyway it was nice to chat with everyone. I finally said good night to Gina and went to bed.

Still Catching Up & Gina's Hard Work

Today will be just another day that not much happens other than our routine stuff. Yesterday’s entry was long but very short for each day. There was really a lot more happening on some of those days. I did want to brag on Gina just a little in her skills of landscaping. She loves taking nothing but dirt and grass and making it into something beautiful to show off God’s creations. What I call hard work she calls relaxing but the amazing part is that she can do it every day from sunrise to sunset. I did want to show everyone some pictures from Saturday, a week ago when she did a flower bed for Nicole & Shane’s house. Now you have to realize there was nothing here but grass before she started and she only had a hundred dollars to work with. These pictures show the completed look and I believe the total price was 140 dollars. I think they did a wonderful job.

Gina did all of this in about six hours with the help of Shane & Nicole.
I also forgot that on Saturday, April 18th the same day that she did all this, Thomas had his Senior Pictures taken by his Aunt Debbie and Uncle Mike. They are both professional photographers and take some beautiful pictures. Here are some pictures that I took and one collage that Debbie sent me. Now back to today, I don’t believe Gina did much of anything other than enjoy her garden. She did take Thomas to the doctor for a cold and then she went and played pokeno with her girl friends. I on the other hand had a full day at work and was in bed and asleep by 9 o’clock.
I know not much is happening in our lives right now and I really miss Gina but we made this decision together for her to stay in Louisiana until after Thomas graduates and Ashley & Parker fly in from Grenada on May 14th.

10 Days of Catching Up
First, Gina and I are OK.
After receiving a few emails asking us if everything was ok, I decided that I better get back to this blog. I was really doing good in posting but things got real busy. I’ll try to give a brief synopsis of the past ten days to catch everybody up with us.
Friday, April 17th, was a work day but there were thunderstorms heading into Houston so we got on the road in the afternoon and headed to our house in Louisiana. Gina decided she needed to stay in Louisiana for a variety of reasons so she had to pack up all those summer clothes she just brought to our home. We made it home and went to dinner with our Nicole & Shane at a Mexican restaurant.
Saturday, April 18th, Nicole & Shane are putting their house on the market but it needed some landscaping so Gina agreed to do that for them. It came out very nice. Gina finally finished up around 6:30 then we both jumped into the shower to get cleaned up since we were going out to eat with my sister and Brother-in-law. We went to a little Italian restaurant. The food was very good and we spent a lot of time discussing our upcoming vacation with them this summer.
Sunday, April 19th, I spent the day consumed by some family issues and helping Gina prepare for some medical tests on Monday.
Monday, April 20th, we got up at 4 o’clock this morning since Gina had to be at the hospital for 6 o’clock. She was not a happy camper with no food for the last 36 hours and no coffee for two days. Well all the test came back good which the doctor expected. However, he still wanted to make sure. So now she heads back to our doctor and for a new course of action. We stopped at the Peterbilt truck dealer and picked up our new seats for the truck. Gina was extremely hungry and she wanted a Stromboli, so guess what we ate, a Stromboli. I still needed to get on the road toward Houston but I had a few family things to take care of. But, I finally got on the road at 6:25 and got home to Houston at midnight. This was a very long day for me.
Tuesday, April 21st, was a work day for me and Gina didn’t have anything really planned until… Somehow Gina locked herself out of our house first thing in the morning and the spare key wasn’t where it was supposed to be. She called our aunt & uncle to bring a key over. My aunt came over with the wrong key but said she was concerned about our uncle. Gina went over to their house and he didn’t look good. After Gina had talked to him for a few minutes she decided that he needed to see a doctor. She made a doctor’s appointment and then she brought him. The doctor instructed him to go to the emergency room and have some tests done. Apparently he had a mild stroke and his blood pressure was high. They finally made it home at 8 o’clock and Gina made it back to our house around 10 o’clock. She decided that she was going to cook a big meal for Wednesday and have our big family over minus me of course.
Wednesday, April 22nd, Gina got up and started cooking and I went to work. She went to our aunt & uncle’s house and he was doing a lot better. He doesn’t remember much from yesterday but otherwise seems to be ok. Our aunt has some beautiful flowers but with her age she has trouble taking care of them. Gina decided to get all of her flower beds back to looking great which she got most of her flower beds done but she still has more to do. My dad and aunt & uncle along with Nicole & Shane came over for supper. I’m not sure what all they had but I know they fresh corn and crowder peas and key lime pie for desert. I’m sure Gina told me everything she cooked but I don’t remember and I’m not asking her again and then getting accused that I wasn’t listening to her when she told me.
Thursday, April 23rd, Gina is back working in her garden and I went to work. My boss asked me if I would come over this evening and take a look at something in his attic. I finished up at his house around 7:15 and he said why don’t you work from home tomorrow and I said ok. You don’t have to tell me twice that I can work from home. Anyway I got on the road around 8 o’clock and finally rolled in at our house right at 1 o’clock in the morning.
Friday April 24th, Gina let me sleep in a little bit. However, I did get up at 8 and enjoyed a cup of coffee with her outside. She had a lot of work to do in the Garden. She went to Lowe’s and picked up some garden stuff and I worked on removing my old seats from the truck. My dad showed up at 2 o’clock with the adapters that he had made. However, the bolts holes were a little too small so we had to redrill them along with going to the hardware store to buy some nuts & bolts. I also took off the driver’s side rear fairing on the truck so I could access the area behind the cab of the truck. After we finished the modifications to the seat adapters we then started working on installing the air conditioning unit on the truck. We needed a star head screw driver to remove some brackets, so it was off to the auto parts store to find this star head socket. We got everything removed and got the new mount in place along with the vertical supports. That was it for the day as it was now dark outside and we couldn’t see anymore. Gina finished up in her garden at about the same time but she still had to water her plants. I went inside and laid down on the couch with a sever migraine. I woke up around 11 o’clock feeling much better.
Saturday, April 25th, was going to be a very busy day since Thomas has his Senior Prom tonight and he is picking up his date at 5 o’clock and coming back over to take pictures in the garden. Gina is in a rush for time even though we both got up at 6 o’clock this morning to start working outside. I had to get all the grass cut along with weedeating the yard. A few weeks ago when Gina got her garden all nice for a wedding she decided not to plant anything around our son’s tree. Well she wanted that done today. There was just a little problem she had not bought any plants to go around it and she didn’t know what kind of plants she wanted yet and oh by the way she had to have it finished by 4 o’clock. I took care of the yard and she went to the plant nursery. We got everything finished and were nice and clean when Thomas and Jennifer (his date) showed up to take pictures. Of course Jennifer’s parents came over too. We had a great time taking pictures and enjoyed meeting Jenifer’s parents Larry & June along with her sister Charley. Once they left Gina and I set outside in the swing relaxing. We were both tired and we didn’t want to anything else but go inside and enjoy our couch.

Sunday, April 26th, was a much slower morning as we enjoyed our coffee outside watching the birds. There are so many this year and it looks like we will have some more baby birds since all the bird houses are full of eggs again. Gina went inside to cook breakfast and I went to Wal-mart to pick up a few things. We all ate breakfast and got to hear all the stories from Thomas about his prom. I went outside and mounted the shifting controls to the driver’s seat and completed the installation of both seats. They look and feel great. Now I cannot wait to take the truck for a drive to see how they really feel. That was about it for me as I started changing my mindset to getting packed up for my trip back home to Houston. I decided to drive the corolla back to Houston since my dad and I didn’t get finished with the ac installation. I made it to Houston by 8 o’clock and in bed by 10 o’clock. I did call and tell Gina good night and she informed me that she started cleaning up our walk-in closet in preparation for when Nicole & Shane will move into our house this summer.
It may not have seemed like we have been that busy but I can tell you it was an extremely busy time for us. Over the last 20 months we have learned that God has a reason why things happen in our life. Between some medical concerns for Gina to some family issues and Gina’s decision to stay in Louisiana, to locking herself out of the house, and then being there to take our uncle to the doctor and ultimately the emergency room. We are so blessed and thankful for all of our family and friends. Now with all that said, I’ll try to get back to writing this blog more regularly.
