Happy Retirement Joe

Monday
June 1, 2009

Welcome to June, It’s hard to believe another month has gone by. Not much to write about today other than Gina & I would like to wish Joe (speedy) a very happy retirement!! You earned the rights and deserve to live out your dreams and Gina & I cannot wait to meet up with you and Sherri.

I woke up and went to work while Gina, Thomas and Haley continued sleeping. They weren’t in a hurry this morning since all they were doing was driving back to Louisiana. I finally called Gina around ten o’clock and she was just cleaning up and making me some tea so I would have some when I got home. They finally got on the road around one o’clock. I got home at six o’clock and they made it back to Louisiana around eight o’clock. I watched a little TV before going to bed as Gina did also. I already miss her by my side. Today was an uneventful day which is a good thing when it’s a travel day(at least for one of us) I’ll be heading back to Louisiana on Friday to spend the weekend with Thomas before he heads off to boot camp. I’m so proud of him and his decision to serve his country. Well that’s about it for today, no pictures, no fun, just work and driving but it was still a wonderful day.

Until tomorrow, Gina & I hope everyone has a pleasant and wonderful day, enjoying what our Father has so graciously blessed us with.

A Very Relaxing Sunday

Sunday
May 31, 2009

We all slept in this morning which meant I woke up at ten o’clock and everyone else got up soon afterwards. We didn’t have any plans other than Gina was cooking breakfast. I cooked the bacon outside on the coleman stove while the biscuits were baking. We all fixed our plates and then sat outside to eat. The weather was just beautiful.

Enjoying Breakfast Outside

After breakfast we all got cleaned up and headed over to Corpus Christi to show Haley the Navy Base there. We stopped at the exchange and I bought a few shirts that I needed and they were cheap and no sales tax. Enjoying some of those benefits I earned after 22 years in the Navy. After that we rode over the campground they have here on the base. It’s really nice and it’s right on the water. The beach isn’t real nice but Gina said it’s good enough for her to work on her tan. I’m sure we’ll stay over here sometime in the future.

Thomas & Haley on the Beach

From there we went to Sam’s warehouse to buy some beef tenderloin steaks but everyone was hungry right now so we didn’t buy anything and opted to go out to eat at Red Lobster. This is one of Haley’s favorite restaurants. The food was ok but since we were all hungry it hit the spot. We made it back home and we all took a short nap and then just sat outside chatting until Thomas wanted some ice cream so off they went to HEB to buy some. This allowed me to post an entry to the blog. We all settled in for the night around eleven o’clock since I had to work tomorrow and they were all driving back to Louisiana. All in all this was another great weekend. Just one week until Thomas departs for Marine Corps Boot Camp and Nicole & Shane move into our house. Gina wants to spend as much time this week with Thomas and to get everything set in place for Shane & Nicole to Move in.

Until tomorrow, Gina & I hope everyone has a pleasant and wonderful day, enjoying what our Father has so graciously blessed us with.

Fun in the Sun & A Baseball Game

Saturday
May 30, 2009

Before I get started I must say I forgot to write a special Happy Birthday wish to Ashley our daughter on her 25th birthday yesterday. So Happy Birthday Ashley!!!

The day started as planned, Thomas went fishing around eight o’clock, Gina & Haley went to the pool and I went to work. Thomas met up with his mom and Haley around 12:30 at the pool. Here are a some pictures of them at the pool.

Thomas said this one Hurt
Around 2:30 I call Gina to see how much longer they would be at the pool and they said they were about to leave so I asked them to come pick me up from work. After I left work they wanted to ride by the Navy Base here in Ingleside. We stopped by the exchange to see what special items they had for sale and while we were there Thomas decided he wanted a high & tight hair cut.

The Finished Look
We made it back home around 4:30 to get a quick bite to eat before we all took a shower and get ready to see a baseball game at Whataburger Field. The Corpus Christi Hooks were playing the Springfield Cardinals. Our friends gave us four tickets which included a free parking pass. We had a great time at the game.

We made it home a little after ten o’clock and we pretty much all went to bed. I’m not sure when they all went to sleep but I was out pretty quick. Another wonderful day with Thomas and Haley.

Until tomorrow, Gina & I hope everyone has a pleasant and wonderful day, enjoying what our Father has so graciously blessed us with.
