Quilts of Valor

Friday we took a drive into Big Timber to have a tire fixed on our truck. While there Janna and Mike gave us a tour around town. They took us inside the Grand Hotel. This hotel was built in 1890 and is still standing. However, today it is a bed & breakfast. The dining room was turned into a beautiful restaurant and is full every night.

We even went into the drugstore and had an old style milkshake before heading back home. For dinner I grilled shrimp while Gina made her fantastic Alfredo sauce and green beans with almonds. Dinner was great and afterwards we sat out on Mike & Janna’s deck visiting and soaking up this beautiful country. As it was getting dark we said goodnight and called it a day.

We woke up early Saturday morning as Gina and Janna were leaving early for Bozeman, Montana.

We woke up to this little guy eating right behind us

Downtown Bozeman

Bozeman was having a big quilt show and Janna is an excellent quilter.

Bozeman's 3rd Annual Community Quilt Show

While they were in Bozeman they went to a big farmer’s market. They bought a lot of vegetables and Gina found a painted rock she couldn’t resist especially since it was only five dollars.

Gina really enjoyed the quilt show and was highly impressed with the Montana Chapter of “Quilts of Valor Foundation”. Their mission is to cover ALL those servicemembers and veterans touched by war with quilts called Quilts of Valor. This Foundation is not about politics. It is about people. Check out the link if you’re interested in this foundation’s work. This is a very impressive organization helping our veterans returning home.

After they left I helped Mike do some work on his new motorhome. We got everything accomplished that he wanted. Just as we had all the tools picked up the girls were pulling in from their trip to Bozeman. Dinner tonight would be grilled baby back ribs with fresh sweet corn on the cob Janna purchased at the farmer’s market today. She also made a fresh coleslaw and more homemade bread. Like always dinner tasted great and we all over ate. After dinner we all took a walk to an overlook that we were hoping to see some bears. We didn’t see any bears. However, the walk and views were excellent. As the sun was setting and moon was rising we decided to call it a night.

Gina had an excellent day in Bozeman with Janna and I enjoyed working with Mike today making their motorhome just the way they want it to be. We're looking forward to a short camping trip to Yellowstone next week together.

Gina & I hope everyone has a pleasant and wonderful day, enjoying what our Father has so graciously blessed us with.

  1. Hi Kids..........thanks for calling to check on us last night. We had a long day yesterday and today. We left Hays at 6:00 this morning and we made it to the Motel at Alvarado at 3:15 pm. We have a really nice room at the Super 8 right next door to Motor Home Specialist. Megabyte is being so good. She just sleeps most of the time we're traveling and loves to explore the Motel rooms at night. She looks in every nook and cranny. :-)

The pictures are beautiful. Wish we were there with you.
