Our Drive to Montana

We made it to Montana

I woke up early and jumped in the shower in preparation for our drive to Montana. Gina stayed in bed since she was still not feeling well. Normally it’s not hard to get ready to leave. However, with Gina not feeling well it left me to do most everything. She did do most of the inside with me helping. I thought we would be on the road between eight and nine o’clock. However, that didn’t happen. It was a little after eleven o’clock before we were on the road heading west. Originally, today was going to be a 470 mile travel day with our arrival at Mike and Janna's house. However, with our late start and Gina not feeling well I decided to call Janna to let her know that we wouldn’t be arriving there until this morning. Gina laid down on the bed most of the trip trying to let the medicine do its thing. Finally around four o’clock she was feeling a little better. I knew she was feeling better because she started taking pictures as we were driving.

Around seven o’clock it started raining on us and we both decided 400 miles was enough driving for the day. With that she got her laptop out and found a Passport America park about 20 miles up the road in a town called Reed Point. I called and they had one 30 amp site left. I said we’d take it. It’s a small little park but for one night it would do. After we got our home setup I called Janna to let her know where we were. She, in return told me that we were only 40 miles from her and Mike’s cabin. At least today will be short travel day. I felt bad after reading Janna’s blog last night when she said she made a cream cheese pound cake for our arrival. I sure hope some of it is still there today. That was our uneventful day and I hope you enjoy the pictures Gina took. These are some of the pictures Gina took during our drive.

I want to thank Tom Hathcock for volunteering his time this past Saturday and inspecting and taking pictures of two motorhomes in Houston for Mike & Pat. He and his wife Susan travel in a Phaeton motorhome.

Pop's wanted me to let everyone know that he may not post a blog today. They are having computer problems. They were not able to post on Sunday because they were driving back home from Lincoln, Nebraska. He has never missed two posts in a row and didn't want anyone to worry. They are doing great and looking forward to delivering their Teton & truck to the new owners tomorrow. They are then taking off in search of that perfect motorhome.

On The Road Toward Montana

We woke up this morning to another beautiful morning and a temperature of 41 degrees. This cold front has got the best of Gina as she's getting a cold. This blog will be short since we are trying to get on the road toward Montana this morning.

Monday morning was "finish up" day on the Summer Cabin. Gina got started on painting the back door and some of the trim. I on the other hand got started on getting electricity to everything inside. My morning was spent inside the breaker panel.

We both finished around noon and Gina began helping Mom setup the summer cabin so they could live in it until they find that special motorhome. Here are some more pictures. The Summer Cabin is really looking good.

It was so exciting yesterday to see their summer cabin come to life. Hopefully when we get back in a couple of weeks the kitchen cabinets and tile will be here and we can complete everything just in time to head south for the winter. Thanks to everyone who follow us and read our blog. Gina and I hope you all have enjoyed following the building of Mom and Pop's summer cabin as much as we have had in building it. Hopefully tomorrow we'll be in Montana with some different scenery for everyone. Stay tuned as the adventure continues.

Yes, They Were Surprised!!!

I’m starting this off this morning with how we woke up this morning. We walked outside at 5:15 to a cool 48 degrees and a beautiful sunrise. In our six weeks up here in the Black Hills we understand why Mom and Pop’s love it up here so much.

Back to the Summer Cabin. Gina and I worked hard all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday until Mom & Pop’s arrived back from Lincoln, Nebraska. We were able to get just about everything accomplished that we wanted to while they were gone. They were surprised to say the least and kept saying how they just couldn’t believe how much we got accomplished. Their Summer Cabin is ready for them to start moving their stuff into now. It’s not finished by no means but all major construction is complete (i.e.: no dust flying). Our goal was always to make it livable while they seek out their next motorhome. Here are the pictures below with only the kitchen cabinets and the flooring left to be installed.

Gina still has some trim to paint. Then she will help Mom and Pop’s move things into their Summer Cabin, while I finish the wiring into the breaker panel. Once that is finished this morning my focus will be preparing our home and truck for our departure. We are leaving here in the morning heading for Montana to see our friends Mike and Janna (Janna writes a nice blog) We only anticipate being in Montana for about 18 days and then we’ll be back to finish up Mom & Pop’s Summer Cabin. We are excited about going to Montana since neither one of us have never been there before. Stay tuned as our adventure continues.
